Wildflowers of Northern Iceland, July and August 2023
This is part of an ongoing project of documenting the flowers and plants that are verdant in each month. This one features flowers growing here in the north of Iceland in June and July, with colors that reference those in nature during those months. Each month I harvest native plants and burn a silkscreen of those plants to catalogue the growing season, wherever I am.

Arctic Summer
A field of flowers, blowing in the wind. The textures of a lone house at the edge of the arctic circle. Alone. Still here.
This piece features the house Skinnalón which is right within the Arctic Circle, and was screen printed over an acrylic painting inspired by skyscapes in July, along with screen printed imagery of flowers that were growing in July.
This piece is on a piece of driftwood from northeast Iceland, near Kópasker. It measures about 30cm x 16cm x 3cm and comes with a brass hanging ring installed on the back. Price includes international shipping.

Norðurlands
This piece is on canvas and features an abandoned farmhouse in the North of Iceland and plants that were harvested in late autumn near Akureyri.

Gabled House, Near Egilsstadir

The image was taken of one of the beautiful old houses, now abandoned except for sheep, outside of Egilsstadir in the East of Iceland. The wildflowers were harvested in July from the mountains of the East Fjords.

Little House near Straumsvik
Perched at the edge of the sea and very much forgotten, this house is found along a winding and stony on Reykjanes. Perhaps a summer retreat, now its windows and doors shake in the wind.

Sailing days long faded, Höfrungur, or the Dolphin, is a ship perched at the edge of the ocean in Akranes.

Höfrungur in the Distance
Höfrungur, or Dolphin in Icelandic, is a ship ruin at the edge of Akranes. The ship has a storied history, but now it sits at the waters edge and creeks in the wind.

Vellir is a turf and timber house in the middle of a valley, and each season the wood sags a little more under the weight of the weather.

Winter in the North is peppered by some of the most exquisite evening skies, and when the combined with silhouetted trees at the edge of the city...you feel like you´re in a magical wonderland.

Leiru is a house that I return to as often as I can, to capture the changing colors of rust on the corrugated iron. In the middle of a field, at the edge of the sea, it is an old friend. This piece features screen printed wildflowers that are from September here in the north of Iceland.
