Lokað
Lokað. Closed.
The word has deeper significance for when this piece was created during my artist residency in Akureyri in September. The ending of an era. New growth. Looking out at sea for wisdom.
The house that's screen printed here was one that I had seen in the distance, on a hill in the North. After asking a farmer for permission to photograph it closer, I developed the photo as a screen print. The sea was also photographed in the North, and the plants were harvested right outside of Akureyri.
Both a message of hope and mourning - the tenuous balance of life.
This piece is on canvas with acrylic and screen print, and measures 47cm tall by 105cm wide. It will arrive to you shipped in a roll, unframed.
East Fjords Refuges
This piece was painted/printed in Stöðvarfjörður during an artist residency in the month of July 2022. The piece features the orange emergency hut that travelers will recognize on mountain pass between Egilsstaðir and Reyðarfjörður. Long used as a shelter in stormy weather, that structure is easily noticed by the road. The building to the left is now a shelter to sheep, even as it returns to the earth, and was found on a gravel road, deep in the east fjords. The acrylic painting of the sky was inspired by one of the many stunning sunsets seen in the East Fjords.
This piece is on acid free Stonehenge paper, and measures 41cm tall by 61cm wide. It is unframed, and will be shipped to you in a roll.
Gamlibaer, East Fjords
On the outskirts of Stöðvarfjörður, there is an abandoned farm with a series of buildings, now playthings for the wind. Even from last year when I was doing an artist residency there, to now, the buildings become ravaged by the weather, and show their resilience. I developed photographs that I took of those buildings and included the mountains that are a little further up Rt 1 from there.
The skyscape in acrylic was inspired by one witnessed upon returning "home" to my studio in Stöðvarfjörður. This piece is on canvas, comes unframed, and measures 65cm high by 128cm wide. It will be shipped rolled in a tube.
The Coastal Route 85
This piece was made during an artist residency in Stöðvarfjörður in the month of November, 2022, and it features a skyscape as well as an abandoned farm located along the northern route that hugs the coast on Route 85. The farm, while long abandoned, longed for its story to be told.
Both the photo screens and the acrylic painting were developed to reflect the feeling of that day of travel. The piece is on acid free Stonehenge rag paper, and measures 66cm by 67cm. It will come shipped in a roll, ready for your frame.
Akureyri Farm
This piece was created during artist residencies in Akureyri and Stöðvarfjörður in the months of October and November. The acrylic painting of the sky is one that I witnessed while working in Akureyri, as are the cyanotype layer of plants below. The two photographs of the turf sheep hut and the corrugated iron shed came from the same abandoned farm, which now houses horses.
The piece is on Stonehenge rag paper, and measures 63cm wide by 51cm. Needless to say, this is the original and it will be shipped in a roll and ready for your frame.
Before Dawn
This original work on canvas features the mountain range in Fáskrúðsfjörður, Iceland. It is comprised of several photo screen prints pieced together to create the panorama of the mountain range, seen on the left hand side of the road as you travel north on Rt. 1 in the East Fjords.
Just before dawn, there is a blue glow over the mountain tops, and the world is cast in deep blues.
This piece is unframed and is 32cm x 78cm, and will arrive rolled up so that you can frame it as you wish.
